The builder’s perspective
I started in lending in 1990, moved into mortgage broking in 2008 and founded Mint Money in 2011. That work taught me the same lesson over and over:
Systems win. Ad‑hoc processes lose.
In 2023, I watched the businesses I worked in scramble to adopt AI. Same pattern every time: initial excitement, then chaos. ChatGPT everywhere. Nobody measuring impact. Compliance questions going unanswered. Teams using AI without confidence.
I built Versantly to connect AI training with the work a team needs to do. Our fractional Chief AI Officer retainers are month-to-month, with training, governance and handover included in the agreed scope.
Background, plainly
- Lending since 1990. Mortgage broking since 2008. Founder of Mint Money in 2011, a Sydney brokerage still operating today (mintmoney.com.au).

- My training in AI is practical and recent: building and running AI workflows inside my own brokerage since 2023, then writing the assessment and certification that Versantly uses. I hold no university degree in computer science and no vendor AI certification. What I bring is thirty years of running regulated businesses and three years of putting AI to work inside one.
This is a measure of public disclosure on one day, not a compliance finding. The ADM transparency obligation is not yet in force, it applies only to automated decisions that could affect rights or interests, and a policy that says nothing about AI may sit above an excellent internal AI policy.
This is a non-accredited professional development credential issued by Lycaon Media Pty Limited (ABN 22 671 975 983) trading as Versantly. It is not a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
